Mechanical Design Engineer

Reports to: Mechanical Design Team Leader
Magnus-Metal Ltd. is an early-stage start-up company, developing a new “Additive Casting” process for the manufacturing of large metal parts. The process outputs cast metal parts based upon the customer’s CAD file.
Our development machine has proven the technology and process, and we are currently recruiting excellent professionals to join our multi-disciplinary R&D team on the path to industrializing the solution.
Job Summary:
The Mechanical Design Engineer designs and coordinates the mechanical design activities related to specific module or subsystem according to the system specification requirements, schedule and target costs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design of new and modification of the existing modules, R&D set-ups and jigs
- Main areas of the mechanical design will include structures, enclosures, motion and electro mechanical design, thermal environment management, sealed environments, lifting devices
- Work with relevant subcontractors, coordinate parts manufacturing and participate in prototype assemblies and testing
- Search and select of OTS components in accordance with the required specifications
- Preparing and presenting design solutions to a multidiscipline review peer group
- Perform a wide variety of calculations and analysis such as mechanical stress analysis, thermal analysis, tolerance stack analyses, motion systems calculations
- Overall responsibility for design, purchasing, assembly, integration and commissioning of the modules assigned
Qualification:
- B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering
- 2-5 years of full-time occupation as Mechanical designer / Engineer

Advantage for candidates with experience with one or more of the following:
o Additive manufacturing, thermal processing,
o Metallurgy, casting, foundries
o Industrial automation systems
o Ability to communicate technically with PhD level researchers - High level of experience with 3D CAD software – SolidWorks
- Good communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
- MS Office programs
- Fluent English – written and spoken
- Understanding of physical principles of: dynamic motion, stress and strain, heat transfer, basic electrical circuits.
- Ability to build what you design – hands-on!
- Good team work skills
